Capes and cosmetics
The Cosmetics page of the menu manages your capes. There are three sources, and they behave differently.
| Kind | Who can see it | What it needs |
|---|---|---|
| Local cape | Only you | No sponsorship and no online service |
| Cloud cape | Soar players on the same server | A linked website account; uploading needs a sponsorship perk |
| Official cape | Everyone you wear it for, in vanilla and other clients too | Your Minecraft account owns an official cape |
Local capes
Section titled “Local capes”On the Local tab, click Import PNG and pick a 2:1 image (64–4096 px wide, file no larger than 2 MiB) to wear it. It is visible only to you and is never uploaded to a server.
Cloud capes
Section titled “Cloud capes”The Cloud tab holds the capes in your website cape library. Uploading and wearing cloud capes needs a sponsorship perk. The website and the game share one library, so a cape you wear here syncs to the website, and the other way round.
- The slots you have used are shown at the top of the page. If you are out of slots, delete one before uploading.
- Click a cape to Wear, Rename, download or Delete it.
- If you see “This service does not support the cape library”, update the client or try again later.
For file requirements and the website side, see Capes.
Animated capes
Section titled “Animated capes”An animated cape moves. Upload a GIF and Soar players on the same server see your cape animated.
- Upload it in the animated area of the Cloud page. Each slot holds one animated cape, and shows its expiry and how many uploads are left this period.
- The GIF must be 2:1, from 64×32 to 512×256, 2–64 frames, and at most 4 MiB.
- Animated capes are a monthly subscription, and while subscribed you also keep the sponsor badge and custom capes. Subscribing and renewing happen on the website; Subscribe and Renew or add in game take you there.
- When a slot expires the animated cape stops showing right away. The content is kept for a while, and renewing the same slot brings it back.
Official capes
Section titled “Official capes”The Official page lists the official capes your Minecraft account owns.
You need to sign in with a genuine Minecraft account. To choose which cape Soar shows, click Use it in Soar.
